Is all DDR400 created equal? Benchmarking To test out the memory we used SiSoft Sandra 2002 Pro to generate some hard numbers. In order to test the stability of the memory we ran the SiSoft Sandra burn in module as well as Mad Onion's 3Dmark2001 SE in a continuous loop for one hour to confirm that our final max memory speed was stable. The last time we had some Corsair in out test box we raved about having a stable ceiling of 176MHz. How does 194MHz for the XMS3200 C2 stick grab you? Someone hand me a paper bag to breath in.
Another notable in the 2-2-2 1T max setting results was the relatively poor showing of the XtremeDDR PC3200 memory. Even our Corsair PC3000 hit 176MHz at this level. I'd think that the XtremeDDR PC3200 should at least match a competitor's PC3000 RAM. Loosening up our settings to 2-3-3 1T put both sticks of the Corsair firmly over the 200MHz mark. The XtremeDDR still has yet to break the 183MHz threshold for either stick that would rate it at PC3000 (DDR366.)
Opening the settings even more to 2.5-3-3 2T gave us some action higher than Tommy Chong. And finally we see the XtremeDDR break 200MHz. But only for the 512 stick. The 256 stick is left sucking wind as it hits the wall at 191MHz.
