GPU Heatsink Removal

Voila!

You're halfway there.  With the sink off you now have to deal with the epoxy residue.  First use a razor blade to scrape (like you are shaving) as much epoxy away as possible.  After being satisfied, whip out some 800-1000 grit sandpaper.  Using tape or whatever you want, attach the sandpaper to a small block or a close facsimile.  I used a child's building block because, I have small kids.  You want to attach the sandpaper to the block to help insure that you are sanding flush with the GPU.  Now carefully sand the GPU surface until the epoxy residue is gone.  DO NOT get carried away.  Go to deep and its curtains.  Also if you get carried away and sand anything except the core, that would also be bad.

Now you can polish the GPU until you get a mirror shine in you like but I just wanted this one clean and smooth.

With a flush GPU you can now attach any VGA cooler you like.  I went with a Tt GF/VGA jobber.

Hopefully, this guide will help some of you.  We want to thank my wife for loaning us her hair dryer and making this guide possible.  Any comments, concerns, questions, criticisms, shoot them to me here.
