ABIT Siluro GeForce 4 Ti4200 Card Layout I have to say that the blue/turquoise PCB is just great looking, which will add some coolness points to ABIT's scorecard. One of the first things you notice on the card is the nice looking aluminum heatsink, which contrasts nicely with the color of the card itself. ABIT has stamped their name, "Siluro" and "geforce4" on the sink. Thankfully, I think this does more to enhance the image than to make it gaudy. Pulling of the heatsink, we can see the GPU core itself, the NV25 with Nvidia's logo (by the way, kudos to Dean for helping me get all these shots of the small stuff on the card, my camera doesn't do well at all since it has no macro option). To the right and above the GPU are the RAM modules. As you can see, ABIT has gone with the Hynix 128bit DDR memory chips. Each chip is rated at 4ns which gives us maximum theoretical bandwidth of 8GB/sec. For the TV-Out function, the card uses the Philips SAA7108Echip, which unlike the Ti440 card, supports both video input and output. A quick look at the back of the card shows the VGA, S-Video and DVI connections. Testing Let's move on to the testing, shall we? Using my trusty Asus motherboard I'm gonna pit my ABIT Siluro up against Dean's BFG Asylum GF4 and see what happens. Then I'm gonna overclock the crap outta this thing and see how much it can take. I figure if I do it now, if the card goes boom, I can make Dean buy me new one. Test Bed
We're gonna put these cards through their paces with the following tests. And for these tests, the screen resolution will be set to 800x600 and 16 bit color. Using DirectX 8.1 the settings will be set for best performance and the Open GL set to V-Synch off as default.
After that, we're going to overclock the ABIT card and run it through the same battery of tests to see what we can squeeze out of it. Now as we all know, no two systems will ever perform the same. Even with the same combination of hardware there will be variances, so if you try this, you're scores may be a little better or worse.
