Chaintech GeForce AA6800 Turbo

Overclocking

With the Chaintech AA6800 Turbo starting out at a 10% overclock (358/770) I honestly didn't expect to get much more out of it.  Installing the CoolBits patch we toyed around until we found a stable artifact free max speed.  This turned out to be only another 10MHz on the core and 16MHz on the memory giving us 368MHz/786MHz.  Taking these numbers out for a spin...

With the Chaintech already overclocked a bit our suspicions of not being able to get much more out of it were confirmed.

Conclusion

Chaintech has done a great job breaking the mold and separating its GeForce 6800 from the rest of the field.  While we didn't see any real performance gains out of this, we also didn't see any increase in the card's price either.  What was different was the addition of a UV reactive fan shroud, blue LED fan, silver thermal paste, copper GPU heatsink and overall improved memory cooling.  All of this adds up to show you that Chaintech is serious about putting out a high quality product.  Add in that the Chaintech AA6800 Turbo hits the streets for a few bucks less than the rest of the field and you have a real winner.

Pros

  • Very fast

  • Price to performance ratio unbeatable

  • Quiet operation

  • Blue LED fan and UV reactive shroud

  • Improved GPU/memory cooler

  • Overclocked WITH a warranty

Cons

  • The picture on the card itself needs to go
