HIS Radeon HD3850 IceQ3 Turbo X 512MB VGA Results Right off the bat let's cue up my current favorite, Crysis. Crysis has shown itself to be quite the system buster with eye candy turned up at high resolutions. Resolution was set to 1600 with eye candy set to the 'high' level and FSAA turned off as both our cards go about FSAA differently.
Gameplay on both cards stumbled (as you can see) on a particularly violent explosion. As I said, Crysis is a system buster. The HIS HD3850 had only one other very brief lag during play. While gameplay wasn't silky smooth it wasn't rough either. Backing off the setting by a red hair got frame rates over the 30 fps average and much more enjoyable. Next up is STALKER. STALKER is another resource intensive game with a variety of graphics settings within the game. The most intensive of these is the 'Full Dynamic Lighting'. This effectively turns on all the eye candy, grass and sun shadows as well as max detail for all areas. Resolution is set to 1600 with FSAA turned off.
Nice gameplay with no noticeable bumps or shudders. We are definitely seeing a trend developing however with the HD3850 trailing the 8800 GT. With this TurboX card being touted as being faster than the HD3870, I think we can begin to make some inferences.
