H.I.S. X700Pro Turbo IceQ What you get: One thing about the H.I.S. X700Pro is that is has one of the best bundles I have seen with a PCI-Express video card. Not only do we have the DVI-VGA converter but a boatload of cables including an S-Video cable and HDTV cable The included software package is impressive. In addition to the driver CD, we have PowerDVD 5, Video Studio 7SE, 3D-Album Pro, and a CD containing Hightech's own overclocking software for those of us who just can't leave well enough alone. The game bundle has the full 3-disc Counter Strike: Condition Zero and a 5-in-1 game CD with Dungeon Siege. Now that's what I call a bundle! The Card One of the trademarks of the HIS video cards has always been their cooling. When they introduced the IceQ cooling solution it was an instant success due to it's quiet operation and the aid it gave to the overclocking of the card. The X700Pro we have here is the first IceQ card that we have had a chance to look at and the first thing that comes to mind is it's size. As you can see, the cooler covers the entire card with a large fan at one end and the HIS logo and graphics announcing the IceQ Turbo at the other. Due to the cooler's size, the X700Pro is a two slot card but with motherboards coming equipped with just about onboard everything now I don't consider it a big deal though it may present a problem for people with SFF PCs. This cooler design is rather ingenious. The fan will blow the hot air across the cooling fins of the heatsink itself towards the rear of the card. Since the card is a two slot solution, by removing the plate on the PCI slot below the VGA plug-in, the hot air will be blown out the rear of the case. The next picture holds two items of note. The first being the wiring for the fan. HIS has done a nice job of keeping things looking neat here. You can also see the heatsink that covers the GDDR3 memory on the card. |
