H.I.S. Radeon X800GT IceQ What you get: While the card's bundle may not be as extensive as some manufacturers, HIS doesn't skimp either. Besides the requisite manual, there are five CD's included in the bundle. These are the driver CD, the iTurbo overclocking CD, bonus CD containing Dungeon Siege, Power Director 3 SE Plus, Power2Go, 3D Album Picture Pro and a handful of game demos. They've also included the 2-disc full version of Flat Out. While you may never see this game reviewed or talked about, it is a "flat out" blast to play. The cables include an S-Video cable, RCA cable and HDTV cable. We've also got the DVI to VGA converter and the vented expansion bracket covert for the IceQ cooler. Card Layout: The X800GT is pretty much identical in layout to the X800XL version we looked at a while ago, right down to the actual dimensions. The card is dominated by HIS' signature IceQ II cooler. Like the other versions of the IceQ cards we've looked at, the cooler is UV reactive. As we've gone over before, the cooler doesn't just pull the heat away from the GPU and memory like conventional coolers, but rather uses directed air to cool things down. The fan sets at the back of the card and blows air down the channel and through the cooling fins of the heatsink, and out the back of the case. This is where that vented expansion slot cover comes in. Not only does this design cool better but it helps to vent excess hot air out of the case. The rear of the card is also sporting a heatsink for the back of the memory. Once we pulled the heatsinks off, we had a good shot of the GPU and memory chips. |
