H.I.S. Radeon X800XL IceQ Just like the X850XT, the X800XL is a large card, made even larger by the IceQ cooler that sits on it. As you can see, when compared to the X850XT, the two cards are actually identical in size, right down to the coolers. There are very, very few differences in the two cards visually speaking. Like the rest of the X-series lineup, the IceQ cooler on the X800XL is there not only for efficient cooling, but also looks. That's because this bad boy is UV Reactive. Imagine that shining up the inside of your case. Taking a look at the cooler from the front (fan end) of the card, we can see how the large fan will push the hot air away from the cooling fins and through the duct work of the cooler to the outside of your case. Notice that this is a two slot solution card. As we said before, the physical design of the HIS' X800XL is almost identical to their X850XT but there are two major differences. The first is the heatsink exhaust. While both cards are two slot cards, with the IceQ cooler being designed to use that second slot to exhaust hot air outside of the case, the X850XT has the second slot cover being a part of the card itself. As you can see from the picture, the X800XL doesn't include this design. Instead HIS chose to include a separate bracket with vent holes cut into it. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Swapping ends, we get to the other difference between these two cards. Due to it's power, the X850XT requires an extra 6-pin power connector. But thankfully, the X800XL has not need for that. The red arrow in the above picture is pointing out the extra power connection on the X850XT. As with the front of the card, the HIS X800XL uses the same heatsink for the backside of the memory as the X850XT. |
