H.I.S. Radeon X850XT PCI-Express

The cards:

While both of these cards are Radeon X850XT's, there are several significant differences to them. We'll go over each card in turn in an effort to keep from getting myself more than a tad bit confused.

HIS Radeon X850XT Dual DVI-VIVO

While the HIS Dual DVI edition is the same size, it does look significantly smaller due the difference in cooler designs.

While this isn't the IceQ II cooler, it does share several features with it, including the same general design principle. The cooler is adorned with the HIS "Excalibur" logo that has been a mainstay in their lineup.

Taking a look at the business end of the card, we can see the two DVI hookups as well as the S-Video port. As with every other Radeon X850XT that I have seen, this one is also a two slot solution.

But this card takes advantage of that by using the larger heatsink to exhaust the hot air out side of the case.

The other end of the card reveals that the heatsink itself is copper and uses a thin fin design to pull the heat away from the GPU core.

And just past the heatsink is the power connection. Like the HIS X800XT that we reviewed several months back, this is a 6-pin connector. But HIS does supply a converter cable if your PSU, like mine, doesn't have this lead.

Flipping the card over shows us that the bracket which holds the cooler on also acts as a heatsink for the back side of the memory chips.

Here we have ATi's Rage Theatre chip which handles the VIVO functionality of the card.
