Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT Overclocked Edition

Finally, Crysis...  If there was going to be a successor in gameplay and tropical visual scenery to Far Cry, Crysis is it.  Again we put the graphics settings all to high in 1600 resolution.  Even with all the 8800 GTs muscle you can see what a resource hog Crysis can be if you like pretty pictures.  Game play was pretty close to smooth but a barely noticeable shudder would crop up from time to time as you can see from the graph below.  For my own gameplay, kicking the settings back half a hair made the game smooth as butter.

Min Max Avg
8800 GT 19 55 32
7900 GS SLI 0 9 4.6

Now I didn't expect the pair of 7900 GS cards to do the face plant they did but it is what it is.  In the real world, kicking the settings down to 1280x1024 and backing off the eye candy a bit made Crysis playable for the older cards but remember, our testing today is to prove or disprove a point hence the panache in high gear.

While we don't use Futuremark's 3D Mark 2006 in normal benchmarking here it does help illustrate our point that much more.  Making a jump from 7500 to 12000 is monster big and confirms what we have already shown you.
