Inno3D Tornado GeForce FX 5700 Ultra - 128mb

Conclusion

The 5700 Ultra has shown us that it is most certainly more than just a tweaked out version of its predecessor.  As a matter of fact, it absolutely trounced the 5600 Ultra and now represents the new middleweight card to have.  While the 9600 XT faired well, it did not show it have enough to win a head to head matchup with the revamped 5700 Ultra.  Inno3D has gone so far as to really spice up its software pack that comes with the card to give you some nice demos and a very nice full version of Commandos.  The cosmetics of the Inno3D card weren't ignored either.  The 45mm fan under power gave off just the right amount of light to be flashy but not excessive.  It being UV reactive didn't hurt things either.

We have said before that the old speed rule of raw horse power no longer dominates the choice of upgrades.  The 5700 Ultra has the raw power to take its counterpart but it really shines once the eye candy is turned on.  With an anticipated street price of around $175, the Inno3D Tornado is THE card to have for the gamer wanting performance but restrained by the financial limits 95% of us share.  Hats off to Inno3D for a well earned award from us here on an outstanding product.

Pros

  • Very fast

  • Lighted UV reactive fan adds lots of flash (no pun intended.)

  • Single slot solution

  • Best bang for the buck in midrange bracket.

  • Nice software bundle

  • Very overclockable card

Cons

  • Long card

  • Exact street price and availability yet to be known.
