Inno3D GeForce 6200A AGP

What you get

Our review sample of the Inno3D 6200A is as plain Jane as you can get.  Included in the box was the card, a VGA to DVI adapter, manual and driver disk.  Let me make note that the drivers included were working experimental NV drivers identified as v76.10.  The current publicly released NVidia drivers are version 71.89.  I fully expect that by the time the Inno3D 6200A hits the retail shelves, whatever drivers that come with it will be WHQL Certified or at the least, more polished.  I also do not expect in the future you will see a fat software bundle with the 6200 as this would drive up the end cost to the user considerably.

The Card

The GeForce 6200A doesn't have the stand up flash of the $500 high end cards but again, it doesn't have that $500 price tag either.  The card is built on jet black PCB with an oversized aluminum passive cooler.  On the I/O side we find a VGA, DVI and an S-Video plug.  Everything the HTPC owner could want for output.

  

Taking a closer look at the cooler we find that it measures a good 84 x 60mm with a smaller area of convection fins running the length of the heatsink about 42mm wide.  At first glance, I thought the oversized aluminum sink was to cover the two memory chips on the card's face.  Unfortunately, it doesn't.  Notice in the second pic below, you can see the separation between the heatsink and the onboard memory.  On the reverse side of the 6200A are two more Samsung memory chips along the rear edge.

     

Here we get a look at the underside of the heatsink.  Not exactly a shaver but it was smooth to the touch and did not appear to present any issues with its mating to the core.  The NV44 GPU is quite small.  Notice how the reference design has four rubber feet around the GPU area of the sink a la AMD I suppose...

  

A close up of the NV44 GPU and the Samsung memory chips.  The Samsung memory used here are the K4D551638F-TC40 units.  These are rated at a maximum speed of 250MHz (500MHz DDR.)
