Inno3D GeForce 6600GT-PCI-Express What you get: Bundled with the card is a TV-out cable and DVI to VGA converter, a driver CD, copies of WinDVD4 and WinDVD Creator and Futuremark's 3DMark 2003. Though the inclusion of WinDVD 4 and WinDVD Creator is a nice touch, it's still a rather slim bundle which includes no games. Of course we won't be using 3DMark 2003 since our debacle with them at the first of the year. The Card What is very nice to see is that unlike the previous generation of nVidia based cards, the 6600 series is fairly small, about the same size as ATi's X600 based cards. Inno3D has kept with their black PCB for the card... gotta love black PCB with the big gold heatsink on it. Recently, CoolerMaster has partnered up with Inno3D to provide the cooling for their VGA needs. This is good thing for both Inno3D and CoolerMaster and a great thing for us as CoolerMaster has a well deserved reputation for their cooling solutions just as Inno3D has for their VGA cards. Pulling back a bit, we can see that there are four small heatsinks covering the GDDR3 memory surrounding the GPU heatsink. The memory is on the face of the PCB only, so there are no heatsinks required on the back side of the card. Here was have our standard VGA, DVI and S-Video connections for the card. nVidia's SLI has been in the news quite a bit lately, and Inno3D's 6600GT is right there with it's SLI connection. If you haven't been following along with it, SLI basically allows you to run two video cards in tandem on an SLI capably motherboard. For more detailed information check out Hexus, AnandTech or [H]ard|OCP. One thing I don't have a picture of is the power connector and that's because like the ATi's mainstream card, the 6600GT does not need it. You just have to love that. |
