AOpen XC Cube EZ65 (A new look and perspective.)
XC Cube Yuppie and XC Cube Sporty

A new look

The two new designs leave the solid color kitchen appliance looks way behind.  Both the black and the silver elevate the draw of the XC Cube EZ65 to a new level.

Beginning with the "Sporty Black", we see that the front bezel has a silver screen like cover over it.  The drive bays as well as the power button area and front accessory ports remain black and uncovered by this screen.  The top most 5.25" bay is concealed by a black cover that folds down when a drive is opened that keeps the case lines crisp and clean.  The available front ports remain unchanged, providing you two USB ports, mic in and speaker out, a six pin and a four pin Firewire port and a Sony/Phillips Digital Interface (SPDIF) port.  You can also see in the right pic below that the screen is set so that there is a small gap between it and the front of the case itself.  This amplifies the look of the screen making it more, for the lack of a better word, sporty.

Each side of the EZ65 has venting to allow air to be pulled in the larger sized grate and out the smaller one by means of the AOpen heatsink/fan orientation.  The back side of the "Sporty Black" design of course has the same rear I/O panel that consists of a printer port, PS2 mouse and keyboard ports, COM port, VGA out, SPDIF in and out ports, Firewire 6-pin port, NIC, USB 2.0 x two, mic jack, speaker jack and an external sound input jack.  Don't miss the two slot covers here.  One is AGP allowing you to drop in pretty much any VGA card you like.  The other is PCI which gives you the expandability to put in a modem or your own sound card depending on your wants and needs.

The silver or "Yuppie Silver", has a decidedly different look.  Much more conservative in appearance, it does still have the eye catching appeal to make you do a double take.  The top most bay is likewise covered by a fold down door to keep your drives concealed.  Access ports below are identical to the other models.  The front bezel itself is actually a 3mm think aluminum plate that curves over the top and bottom of the face that is black plastic.

The sides and rear of the "Yuppie Silver" are identical to the other model.  The same side vents allowing nice air exchange are present in addition to all the features previously mentioned about the case rear.  The only exception to this is the lower front bezel.  In the pic of the unit's face the lower most portion is a curved piece of aluminum with "Powered by AOpen" printed on it.  The side view gives you a better view of it and how it elevates the EZ65 so that it sits at a slight angle.
