Kingwin KT-424 WM Aluminum Case

Situated in between your power and reset buttons are the power and hard drive indicator LEDs.  The power lamp is green and the hard drive activity lamp is amber.  I only mention this because we have gotten more than a few e-mails about changing the color of case indicator lamps.  Virtual-Hideout has a good guide for that by the way.  The center pic a much better shot of the intake fan screen.  To the bottom right of this screen is a clear acrylic door that has two USB 2.0 and one Firewire port resting behind it.

The top of the front bezel has a carbon fiber look about it identical to many Lian Li products we have seen here.  Pretty hip look.  I'm still waiting for someone to put out a case with this look over its entire surface.

The front bezel is removable by pulling at the four corners that snap in place.  Removing this exposes quite a few features.  The value of a so easily removed bezel should not be overlooked.  Working out way down, the drive bay covers are each held in place by two thumb screws.  One on the front and the other on the side behind the right side panel cover.

A front mounted Rheostat is mounted to the right of the intake fan filter for fan speed adjustment.  Once we had everything plugged in and running in the KT-424, I couldn't detect a difference between the low and high settings.  Of much more interest is the removable fan filter.  Like almost everything else on the KT-424, its removal is tool free allowing access to the filter that can easily be cleaned with a can of compressed air.

The left side panel sports a window with a light blue tint.  It is held in place by eight small brass hex screws.  Typically you see windows mounted on the inside of the case.  With the KT-424, the window pane is mounted on the outside of the panel.  The window can be easily moved to the other side of the panel in a more traditional setup if you like but after we did that here, we decided the way Kingwin sent it out looked the best.  The final pic in the review has a picture of the window mounted on the inside of the panel.
