Lian Li PC-7 Plus Aluminum Case

120mm fans are fantastic as they move tremendous amounts of air without making too much racket.  Centered in the venting area is a Lian Li case badge that looks at home almost as much as an OCC badge would.  Just below this area is a small aluminum flap concealing two USB 2.0 ports, a Firewire port, as well as a speaker and mic jack.

The side panel sports an oversized window held in place by chromed rivets.  The window here is almost a necessity as the case weighs in a 4.8kg; there is no way this case won't end up being someone's LAN box.

Moving to the rear, we see a 120mm exhaust.  High volume, low noise fans rule.  You can see a small wire mesh finger guard covering the area that is quite stylish.  One of the new accessories from Lian Li is an 80mm squirrel cage fan (not included) called the BS-01.  It is in a rectangular aluminum frame that mounts to the case so that the exhaust from the fan blows out of the small vent area you can see on the bottom right of the first pic below.  With the BS-01's mounting, it will draw air from the side opposite that facing the add on cards in your board.  To me this seems not as efficient as would a direct draw of hot air would.  The BS-01 was not included in our review sample so we could not test our theories unfortunately.

Up top, we find the familiar grate covering an 80mm blow hole.  Unfortunately, no fan was included.  It's the little things like this that add up to keep the price down for Lian Li and us.

As with most all Lian Li cases, the front bezel is removed by pulling at each of the corners to unsnap it from the rest of the chassis.  Once removed, the oversized filter for the 120mm intake fan is exposed.  The filter cover slides up and out allowing quick filter access for cleaning.  Access to the filter and getting everything put back together can be done inside of a minute.  Engineering that works!
