Lian Li PC-60 II Plus Aluminum Case by Dean Barker (4/09/2006) Introduction Lian Li is frequently thought of as the Cadillac of computer cases. This is a comparison heard frequently and for good reason. Be it Lian Li's reputation for exceptionally high quality aluminum construction, smart ventilation or just practical and well thought out features; Lian Li is always the first name that comes to mind. One lesson that Lian Li obviously knows is that if you have a winning design, ‘you don’t mess with success.’ Since the original release of the Lian Li PC-60 case, Lian Li has made some subtle changes without disturbing the design concept too much. The Lian Li PC-60 II Plus is the third revision of this famous chassis and it brings even more features to the table. Today, we have this latest model on the bench for a long, detailed look. Our thanks go out to Hampton-Technology, one of the major Lian Li distributors in North America for sponsoring this review. Specifications
A Look Around The PC-60 II Plus is offered in two colors, standard silver and black. As you can see below, our review unit is silver and has the same distinctive style that has won previous versions much fame. This standard sized four 5.25" bay midtower is large enough to offer plenty of expansion room without being too big, given its observed dimensions of 499 x 210 x 445mm. Another size point I wish to make is how lightweight this all aluminum chassis is. Weighing in a fraction over six kilograms, the Lian Li PC-60 II Plus is light enough to make a splendid LAN box. The lower half of the front bezel has a large venting area stamped into the metal to feed a 120mm fan. Centered in the venting area is the case's badging. Below this you can see the aluminum door that conceals jacks for mic in, audio out, a Firewire port and two USB 2.0 ports. |
