RaidMax Virgo Case

Included with the case is a 420W power supply, and you can see here that it does not use an exhaust fan, but rather relies on a large 120mm intake fan to pull the air in and out the back of the case. Using this configuration should help to cut down on the noise level.

The last item of note, is the lack of thumbscrews for the side panel. While for a $60 case it's not a big deal, I would have liked to have seen them at least on the windowed side panel that everyone has to take off.

And speaking of which, let me pull the screwdriver out and we'll check out the inside of the case.

At the front of the case, of course, are our drive bays capable of holding four 5.25" drives and six 3.5" ones. Sorry guys, no tool free drive rails here, we gotta do things the old fashioned way.

Directly in front of the HDD drive racks is an opening for an additional intake fan. The nice thing is that it will accept either an 80mm or a 120mm fan. I'd opt for the 120mm fan for more air with less noise.

And speaking of 120mm fans, here's the rear exhaust fan. As you can see, the mounting of the fan itself is tool free.

The fan is mounted to the purple shroud on the back of the case. Unfortunately, you can't remove the shroud and remount the fan for better airflow. The shroud cover and fan mounting are a two piece assembly and once removed, offer no way to remount just the fan itself.

Now lets take a look at the other fan included with this case. Mounted on the side window, it contains a ducting mod on the inside to funnel air out from the case. I say out, because the fan is positioned from the factory for exhaust, not intake. I would prefer an intake fan here, with my heatsink fan mounted to blow down across the heatsink.

If you wish to change this, the fan and air duct both are easy enough to remove and flip around. For those of you using a large heatsink, removal of the air duct will prove necessary which is simple enough to do.
