Thermaltake Bach HTPC Case

Installation/Operation

Installation went without an issue.  With the Bach's cover removed, it exposed three sides from which to work.  The board that we installed is an Albatron K8SLI board that has a bit of a smaller foot print making it ideal for a HTPC.  With all the parts installed, things were cramped but not so much so that expansion would be inhibited later.  Pretty good for a small desktop HTPC case.

With everything connected and powered up, the Bach walks that thin line between being conservative and being gaudy very well.  The blue LED effects are visible but not overpowering.  The VFD with the software installed allows the VFD to cycle through world news, weather, system usage, e-mail alerts and quite a bit more.  The iMon software and remote included with the MediaLab option is a very worthwhile addition.  Having the remote able to have hot keys to popular HTPC functions as well as a hat switch making the remote also double as a handheld mouse was phenomenal!

Conclusion

The Thermaltake Bach is a fantastic HTPC case.  It has it all, compact size, a sturdy construction, excellent attention to details, a A/V component look about it so it will blend in and all this in addition to a multifunction remote that controls a host of options including doubling as a mouse.  About the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the front stealth bay cover.  The stealth bay cover for the 5.25" bays should have a button so the CD/DVD can be ejected without opening the larger three bay cover.  No huge deal but that was the only thing that hit me off of center with this case.  This is without a doubt my next HTPC case and I think you would be hard pressed to find more features and style elsewhere.
