Thermaltake Armor VA8000 Armor Case The drive bays up front are all designed to be able to handle 5.25" drives or to have a 3.5" HDD cage fitted into them. Thermaltake has designed the drive racks for tool free installation of your 5.25" drives using yet another unique feature that they incorporated into the case. Tool free drive bays aren't new and everyone has their own design but I'd have to say after using these, that they are one of the best that I've seen. Along the sides of each bay are plastic catches that can be released by squeezing the handles and pulling the catch up. Then slide your drive in from the front until it's flush and lock the catch into place on the drive. It's simple, effective and easy to do with one hand. These catches also hold the front HDD cage in place in the three lower drive bays but you can always remove the drive cage and put it anywhere you want. Attached to the front HDD cage is the 120mm front intake fan. Another blue LED fan; I can't wait to see the affects of it lighting through the drive bay covers. The BTX Factor While BTX motherboards are not available yet, they are coming. And as such Thermaltake is looking to the future with this case. The case is equipped to use their optional BTX upgrade kit which consists of a rear plate and BTX Support Retention Module for the mobo tray. You can see the difference in the BTX rear plate as compared to the ATX style which is currently in use. The BTX plate is installed in the right picture below. With this case, even when motherboard designs change in the future, you still good to go. While you may have to upgrade you mobo and maybe CPU, the VA8000 Armor case will still be kicking. |
