Aspire USA X-Alien Aluminum Case

Our test rig today sports a red paint job.  This isn't any low budget "I can paint that car for $99.95!" paint job.  It was very clean and well done.  In addition to the red, the X-Alien is also offered in black, silver, yellow, blue and green.  As far as the basic frame is concerned, you will recognize that the X-Alien shares its look with the X-Super Alien and the X-Pider.

The X-Alien is an aluminum chassis with an ABS plastic front bezel.  Opening the plastic door on the top half of the case shows five 5.25" and two 3.5" drive bays.  What is nice about these bays is that they are removed by a small external clip on the right side of the bay cover.  Below you can see the depressions on the side of the bay cover that allows access to the recessed clip.

Behind each of the drive bay covers are a pair of drive rails.  These green translucent rails are so you can access a drive from the front.  I like the way the extra rails may be stored out of the way and just as importantly, out of sight.

The lower portion of the X-Alien has the same grill work we have come to expect on these style cases.  The grill unfortunately was not removable as it is on the X-Super Alien.  Here is a link to the pic showing what the removed grill looks like on this case's big brother.  The X-Alien doesn't lose points for this as that is a feature I have only seen on the Super Alien case.
