Xoxide X-Turbine Case

Manufacturer: Xoxide
Supplied by: Xoxide
Price: $72

By Dean Barker (7/21/2003)

Introduction

Xoxide is far from new to the pre-modded case scene.  They have put together some very nice cases with lots of features with one difference from the other guys, they also make a point to keep the price down.  Today we have the Xoxide X-Turbine Case that retails for $72.  For your seventy greenbacks you get quite a bit for your money.  Let's jump right in and take a look around to see what's where.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 480 (D) x 200 (W) x 430 (H) mm

  • Size: Mid Tower

  • Material: Steel

  • Weight: Approx 6.5 kg

  • Drive Bays 4 x 5.25"; 3 x 3.5"; 5 x 3.5" (Hidden)

  • USB x 2 side accessible ports

  • Firewire x 1 side accessible port

  • Case Fans: Six 80mm Case Fans

  • Available in Silver or Black

You can tell at first glance that the X-Turbine is set up to be a high flow case.  What immediately grabs your attention are the two 80mm case fans.  These two fans are blue tri-lighted LED fans that come included with the X-Turbine.  The wire grill work over the fans will do a great job at keeping fingers and pencils out of the fans but as for dust... not so much.

On the left side panel, immediately next to the front bezel, about two inches from the base is a small door.  This door opens to expose two USB and one Firewire port.  The Firewire port connects to an adapter cable that runs through and out the back the case to be plugged into a standard rear accessible Firewire port.  Too much cable clutter for my taste.  It would have been nicer to see the cable wired for connection directly to the mainboard.  The cable is easily removed from the case if you don't want to use it.
