MGE XG Dragon Aluminum Case

We'll start by looking at the front of the XG Dragon.  The bezel is a nice silver color with the Dragon emblem on the front.  The bezel is held closed with a small magnet, so it makes it easy to open and close.  Directly below the bezel is front LCD Panel with chrome air grills on either side.  Under the LCD are the control buttons.  I've never had a case with a front LCD before, so I can't wait to see how this looks.

Moving back up toward the top of the case, you can see the HDD Activity light, Power Light, Power button and Reset switch.  These blend very nicely with the body of the XG Dragon.  So much so, that it actually took me a moment to find them.  Above these buttons are a trap door that opens to reveal the USB, Firewire, and audio ports.

Another very nice feature on the XG Dragon is the handle that rounds out the top of the case.  Although it is made of plastic, it is definitely strong enough to support the weight of the case with all the parts installed.  I've used it on a number of occasions and it makes moving the case a breeze.

Now, as we move over to check out the side of this beauty, we get another look at excellent craftsmanship.  The side acrylic panel has been laser-cut to show the Dragon emblem here as well.  There's more grilling here to keep the airflow going nicely.

Inside the side panel, there's a funnel to direct the airflow directly over the processor.  This could come in handy for folks with a fan sitting on top of the CPU.  The funnel is set so that it shouldn't interfere with most oversized coolers.  It does have an adjustable height and can be removed altogether if you so choose.  There are also screw holes here so you can attach another 80mm fan if you so choose.  Also, notice the small handle attached to the side panel.  This, along with the thumb screws, makes for removing the side panel of the XG Dragon very easy and painless.

As we take our trip around to the back of the case, we notice the PSU, the PCI Slots, and the 80mm fan.  This is not just any generic power supply, this MGE PSU pumps out 500 watts of power for any fans, LEDs, and drives that you may have to power.  Did I mention that the included power supply is a modular job complete with easy grip Molex connectors, native SATA and a 6-pin power cable for newer generation VGA cards?  Exceptional!  Another feature back here that demands attention are the four thumbscrews that hold on the removable mainboard tray.  We'll get more into that a bit later.
