Evercool WC-301 Mini Water Cooler

What you get

To be honest, I couldn't believe how much stuff they had put into that little package. Evercool includes everything you need to get you up and running with water cooling your CPU.

The contents include mounting hardware for the AMD AthlonXP and Intel P3 sockets, the AMD Ahtlon 64 and Opteron and Intel P4 socket 478. There are also four pieces of 3/8" OD tubing with fittings already attached, a copper water block, radiator and fan unit, PCI bracket for the pass through connections and two 4-pin Molex power cords. A bottle of orange coolant and a manual in four languages round out the package.

Radiator/Fan Assembly

The radiator and fan assembly looks more like a speaker than anything else. Since the unit is designed to be mounted externally OR internally, Evercool added some class to it's looks. Above the grill for the fan, are the intake and output connections for you water lines. On the opposite side is the Molex connection for the power and between them is a small button for the fan speed; high or low.

The 'Evercool' writing will light up during operation. There are three different colors. When the fan is operating at low speed, it will backlit with green, high speed is orange and if the fan stops running, the writing will be red. On top is the opening for the reservoir.

Turning the unit around we see an aluminum plate holding the radiator itself in place and you just know I gotta take it apart to look at the insides.

Removal was pretty simple and now we get to check out the guts and bolts of the kit. Like a lot of other all-in-one kits, the reservoir, radiator and pump are all combined into a single unit. This is one of the advantages of these kits for someone just getting started in water cooling.

The unit uses an 80mm fan to cool the radiator at the rear of the unit. Above the fan, is the PCB board with all the power connections for the pump and fan.

From the rear, you can see the radiator with the water pipes running through. The Evercool WC-301 has a total capacity of about 4oz of fluid within the reservoir and lines combined.

Water Block

The water block for the unit is pretty much the same that you'd find with any other kit. Evercool was nice enough to include some thermal paste, which I can never have enough of.

The lap job for this block was outstanding. While I haven't reviewed any other H2O kits, I have checked out my share of heatsinks, and I rarely see a finish this nice.
