Kingwin Cooling Line Up for 2007 Here's a couple more shots of the cooling area. The fan placement in between here makes for a clean and efficient mount. In case you are asking yourself 'why not put the fan on the outside and make the entire area one large brick of fins'; recall that the existing design weighs over one and three-quarter pounds. Can you imagine what it would weigh with copper fins running the full length? If you look closely at the inner side of the convection fins you will see that they are constructed with a tooth like cut. I'm assuming this is to scale back a small amount of the total weight while minimizing turbulence from the sandwiched fan. The base of the KA-9226ACU like the KA-9225, sits 25mm below the convection fins. It is also sized the same 55mm square and 5mm thick at the contact point. Minor imperfections could be felt but these were from machining that should be compensated for easily enough with thermal paste. We'll see though shortly. This all copper cooler is available now for $39 at NewEgg here and looks to be priced competitively given the amount of copper and promise of cooling efficiency which we will be directly testing after we look at two more of Kingwin's new children. Kingwin KA-9227 Cooler (Street Price: $27) Specifications
The Kingwin KA-9227 cooler takes the design we've seen so far and turned it 90 degrees. The high count cooling fins are now arrayed vertically with the fan blowing air up from underneath and through them. The wave like cut of the top of the fins you see below appears to be for aesthetics to add in a bit of flare. |
