by: Bobby Edmonds  (10/2/2001)

Introduction:

There are quite a number of heat sinks out there these days, and it seems for the most part price is inversely proportional to heat. What I mean to say is the better cooling job a particular sink does the greater its value, and in the opposite direction too. The greater it sucks the cheaper it is. Well today we take a look at a sink that will not burn a hole through your pocket or your processor.

  • Includes stock Delta® 60x60x38 MM focused flow series fan

This is an all aluminum sink. It is comprised of a total of 78 fins (39 on either side). The fins are super thin and are textured on one side to create more surface area for cooling. The sink looks to be cut from a single block which is good but there are metal shaving all throughout the sink that need to be removed before using it. (these shavings could cause damage to other electrical components if blown around in the case).  Keep in mind that our test unit was a pre-release review model and the final retail version almost assuredly will be clean and free of these shavings.

The base is covered by an all aluminum mount that is screwed in by two screws on either side. This mount holds the fan just above the fins.
