ThermalRight Ultra-90 LGA775 Cooler As you can see, this is a pretty thin cooler, only around 45mm wide. The Ultra 90 uses the standard thin-fin technology that contains 40 thin aluminum fins. From the nickel plated copper base, the six heat pipes are soldered on and span up through the fins to the top of the sink. At the top of the fins is where the wire clip for the fan attaches. Something worth mentioning is the use of the standard Intel clips to secure the cooler to the motherboard. I personally love this feature, and think it makes installation an absolute breeze. If you're replacing a stock cooler with this one, you won't have to remove your motherboard at all. The clamp that I received was for my LGA775 motherboard, but also available are brackets for standard AMD K8, and Intel Socket 478 processors. All of these mounting brackets use the standard factory mounting methodology for easy installation. This is a huge plus in my book. As we move down to the base of the Ultra 90, we come to the nickel plated copper base. At first, I mistook this for an aluminum base just because of the look, but I was definitely mistaking. This should provide for excellent heat transfer off of the CPU and onto the heatpipes. The pipes are likewise constructed of nickel plated copper which should keep wisk the heat quickly away from the processor up to the fins. Here, the heatpipes are also soldered on for maximum transfer. The finish here is nothing to write home about, but it's not too bad either.
