Introduction

It seems to be that silent, high performance CPU cooling solutions are starting to take the lead. With water-cooling steadily becoming popular among all computer users, the manufacturers need an air solution that's as quiet as water-cooling to stay in the game. Zalman and Spire are probably two of the most well known silent heatsink makers, and now it seems that Thermaltake is finally going to enter the arena of silence along with these companies. Personally, I sense a battle between Thermaltake and Zalman brewing. Today I'm going to be taking a look at the Thermaltake Silent Boost cooler. The Silent Boost is a 21dBA (almost silent) high performance cooler from Thermaltake that will knock your socks off.

The Silent Boost came packaged in a clear plastic, snap together container unlike most of their older heatsinks which come boxed. The front of the container lists some of the Silent Boost's more notable features some of which include a "Hydro Wave Bearing Fan," which I will talk about later in the review.

Inside the Silent Boost package you are given the heatsink itself, an instructional fold out step-by-step poster, and a tube of thermal paste.
