Corsair XMS 3000 DDR366 Memory Test
Bed
Corsair says the stick will do 166MHz at 2-2-2 1T, let see if it does. What about this 185? Before I go too far, some of you may be asking what is the benefit of having memory set at 2-2-2 or 2-3-3 or whatever is. To try and put the performance differences in perspective we ran Sandra 2002 Pro and 3D Mark 2001 SE at 166MHz with the memory set at 2-2-2 1T, 2-3-3 1T, 2-3-3 2T, and 2.5-3-3 2T to show the impact of different memory settings on your systems performance. For these tests, we clocked our 1.0GHz Thunderbird at 166MHz on the bus with a multiplier of 9 to give us a clock speed of just under 1.5GHz.
I think the 3D Mark program shows this the best. With the only changes being made in the memory settings, we got a gain of almost 300 points. Still no huge deal but every little bit helps especially when bragging rights are on the line.
