Corsair XMS4400 (DDR 550) memory

Here are a couple of close up shots of the DIMM.  Corsair has a holographic sticker on the right side of the module denoting its speed and what it is.

Performance

To give us a glimpse of the performance of the Corsair XMS4400 we used the Memory Bandwidth Benchmark included with SiSoft Sandra 2004 Pro.  Originally we were going to add in some game benches but it seemed almost a waste.  Obviously, as we changed the bus speed to kick the memory speed down or up the processor's speed would also change.  Not exactly giving us a good point of reference for the memory.

Test Bed

• ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe Mainboard
• Intel Pentium 4 2.4C processor
• Seagate Barracuda 120gb SATA HDD
Albatron GeForce FX5950 Ultra
• Generic 52x CD-ROM
• Windows XP Professional with all patches and service packs.

The first two screens below are CPU-Z showing the processor and memory speed/timings.

Let's see what Sandra shows us.

The fastest reference comparison within the current version of Sandra 2004 Pro is dual channel PC4000.  You can see right off that we blew right by that.  I think a better point of reference are the two PC3200 reference configurations as the majority of users are running DDR400.  Notice that the differences are substantial.  Also take note of the maximum memory bus bandwidth.  WOW!
