Mushkin PC3200 LII V2 Enhanced Memory

Testing

Platform to platform, memory isn't exactly the same.  AMD and Intel based rigs will see some differences, however slight, in the performance of the DIMM installed.  To address this we dropped the Mushkin PC3200 V2 Enhanced Memory in both and AMD and an Intel test bed.  To give us some rough idea of performance we will utilize SiSoft Sandra 2004 Pro's Memory Bandwidth benchmark program to give us some numbers to compare.  More importantly in my mind is how high can we push and still retain the 2-2-2-5 timings.  In addition to this, we decided to explore the outer limits to see where the Mushkin DIMMs tapped out at with the reigns loosened to 3-4-4-8.

Our comparison product today is a direct apples to apples competitor, some of Corsair's PC3200 XL Pro.  These sticks also run at 2-2-2-5 and are the same DDR500 Samsung ICs.  Overclocked timings were run under load for 12 hours glitch free to ensure stability.  The scores you see below are the result of five runs per product per bench with the highest and lowest scores thrown out.  The remaining three were then averaged which is what you see here.  The speeds you will see are the actual bus.  The written DDR (DOUBLE data rate) speeds will be x2 this.

Intel Test Bed

First off, let's run our RAM at its stock 2-2-2-5 200MHz setting and see how we look in our AMD and Intel boxes.
