OCZ EL PC2-5400 Gold Edition Memory Kit (1GB)

Manufacturer: OCZ Technology
Supplied by: OCZ Technology
Street Price: $120.00

by Brian Tiller (12/19/2005)

Introduction

While AMD hasn't made the move just yet, Intel has firmly embraced DDR2. Pretty much all new Intel chipsets will be exclusively DDR2 (until, of course, DDR3 comes out.) We've only had a chance to check out one DDR2 kit here but today thanks to OCZ I get to have some fun with their PC2-5400 EL Gold Edition kit.

Specifications:

  • Speed: DDR2 667

  • Timings: 4-4-4-8 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)

  • Gold mirrored copper heatspreaders

  • Voltage: 1.8V

  • (2) Matched 512MB 240 pin DIMMs

  • Manufacturer Lifetime Warranty

  • Extended Voltage Protection

    • Up to 2.2V still covered by warranty

  • Available in 1GB and 2GB kits

One of the things that I really like about OCZ stuff is the lifetime warranty. OCZ stands behind their products even for us folks who like to push things a bit more than they probably should be. This translates into more piece of mind when you're trying to decide just how much juice to pump through when you need that extra frag power.

Physical Appearance

The memory showed on my door all packed up with plenty of bubble wrap and I had a blast with it. I think I spent the first hour playing with the bubbles and driving my dogs crazy! Ok, ok, let's get to the memory.

The packaging is the normal clear plastic showing off the sticks and the fact that it's "High Performance".
