OCZ EL PC2-5400 Gold Edition Memory Kit (1GB) With the speed setting in the BIOS, this only brought our CPU speed up to a little over 3.3GHz, so lets adjust that down to 533MHz and start overclocking again to see if we can get past our previous barrier of 243 MHz and 3.4GHz on the CPU with this memory. Unfortunately we seem to be CPU limited here as the best we could manage was only 245 MHz on the FSB with complete stability. This only brought the memory frequency to 327. It looks like I'll be needing to get a new CPU sometime soon. Conclusion OCZ's PC2-5400 EL Gold Edition memory is rated at a speed of 667MHz with timings set to 4-4-4-8. We've seen that we can get way past the rated speed of the memory, almost up to 800MHz. That is what I would call Smokin'! While we are still waiting for AMD to switch over to DDR2, Intel has moved and I'm sure that AMD will be along shortly. To put this memory a bit into perspective, the Corsair PC2-5400 that we've been using in the shop was only able to reach about 760MHz on the same setup. While there is DDR2 out there that is rated faster, such as DDR800 and above, you're going to pay for that speed. With a price tag of only $120, OCZ's memory will give you plenty of headroom for overclocking. And backed by a lifetime warranty, even with increased voltage, this stuff should be at the top of your list when shopping around. I was extremely impressed with the results, and more impressed with the fact that it whooped up on the Corsair that I've been using. Pros:
