OCZ PC3200 Gold GX XTC Memory Kit (2GB) by Dean Barker (2/19/2006)
Introduction Economics 101: If a company makes a crap product, it won't sell subsequently putting that company out of business. Likewise, the reverse is true; make a great product and business will boom. OCZ Technology has been steadily climbing the memory manufacturer food chain and can look eye to eye with anyone in the business. Getting to the top rung demands performance, quality and innovation. Performance and quality are both fairly self explanatory points but what about innovation? Trying something new and thinking outside the box is spoken of frequently but done far far less. OCZ shows action and not just talk with the release of their XTC memory kits. XTC stands for Xtreme Thermal Convection; effectively a grill type design memory heat spreader. Couple this XTC technology with gold plated materials on fast DDR400 memory modules and you can smell a winner. OCZ Technology has been kind enough to send over a two gig kit of their new OCZ PC3200 Gold Edition GX XTC memory units for us to have a closer look at and abuse. Without further delay let's jump right in. Specifications
The Power of Two Two gigabyte memory kits are the way to go right now as far as high end gaming and/or intensive apps like photo editing are concerned. OCZ offers two gig memory kits in several configurations for different needs. The units we are looking at today are DDR400 (PC3200) modules with rated timings of 2-3-3-8 at a 1T command rate. |
