SyncMAX PC2-5400 DDR2 Testing As a base to test these SyncMAX modules against, we are going to turn to our Corsair PC2-5400 Pro set of memory. These are good memory modules and we've been using them for quite some time now and have had no complaints. The Corsair PC2-5400 has listed timing of 4-4-4-12 at 667 which is a bit looser than the SyncMAX at the same speed. We will be testing the memory kits at both 533 and 667 speeds. Unfortunately, the Corsair couldn't handle the tight timings of 3-3-3-8 at 533, so we'll be running them with looser timings of 4-4-4-10 at 533 and 4-4-4-12 at 667. Keep that in mind when you look at our Sandra results. Test Setup:
On with the show. And our first stop is SiSoft Sandra 2007 and the Memory Bandwidth Benchmark at speeds of DDR2-533.
Let's bump the memory speed up to DDR2-667 and see what we get.
Even with the tighter timings, the SyncMAX memory is lagging just a bit behind our Corsair memory. It's probably not enough for the average user to even notice the difference, but it's there. Next up, we'll run a couple of instances of Super PI out to 2 million places to see what we get out of the memory.
Again,
the Corsair has a very slight lead over our SyncMAX modules, but realistically
who will notice a one to two second difference in 2 million decimal places.
