AOpen AK77 Plus (KT266A) Mainboard

Conclusion

We have been beating on this board for weeks now and have yet to run into any major (or minor for that matter) issues.  The AK77 Plus (A) has been an absolute rock as far as stability goes.  It has the bulk of what you would expect in a high end board.  The absence of multiplier adjustments in the BIOS keep the AK77 Plus (A) from being a top three contender.  It isn't as much big inconvenience with the dip switches as it is an irritation.  However, it is priced $25 less than similar boards so dollar for dollar the AK77 isn’t a bad deal if you are looking for a solid mainboard that has all the basics and don’t need every possible hardware tweak available.

Pros

  • Doesn't cost an arm and a leg and it still has RAID.

  • Rock solid stability.

  • Smart layout.

  • Black PCB.

  • Outstanding documentation especially the poster.

  • Excellent optional features.

Cons

  • Dip Switches.

  • Excellent optional features aren't free.
