AOpen AX45 P4 Mainboard

Overclocking

As you have already guessed, this is not an Overclocker's board.  The settings just are not accessible to push CPUs to their limit.  Rather, it is designed for the average Joe User.  We were able to run the board at 112MHz with our Pentium 4 1.8GHz Northwood to get some benchmarks.  With no voltage adjustment a 133MHz bus was just not in the cards.  (Which is aiming high anyway.)

Benches

We used several benchmarks in order to test the performance of the AX45 at a stock and an overclocked setting.  For our tests we used, Mad Onion's 3D mark 2000 v1.1; 3D mark 2001 SE; the new system bench from Mad Onion - PC mark 2002; SiSoft Sandra; Quake3 Arena; and Unreal Tournament.

Test Bed

  • AOpen AX45 P4 Motherboard (SiS645)

  • Intel P4 1.8GHz Northwood

  • 256 MB OCZ PC2400 DDR RAM

  • ASUS V8200 GeForce3

  • 20GB Western Digital ATA100 7,200 RPM HDD

  • Senfu open work station housing

And away we go...
