Albatron Mars PX915 P/G Pro Mainboard What you get: One thing I've come to like about Albatron is the fact that they equip their motherboards very well. The Mars PX915P Pro comes with the requisite manual and driver disk as well as a RAID manual and a large fold out quick installation guide. The cables include three IDE cables, two of which are for the RAID slots, one FDD cable, one SATA cable and a 4-pin Molex to SATA drive adapter. We also have the rear I/O plate and a four port rear USB bracket. Even though most cases today have the front USB ports, it's nice of Albatron to include the rear bracket for those who are using an older case. The Motherboard One thing you can say about this motherboard is that it doesn't skimp on the colors. Using the their normal blue/green PCB for a backdrop, Albatron has color coded everything else on the board. The layout of the board is dominated by two large passive heatsinks. Both are gold in color. The Northbridge has 'Albatron' stenciled on it. Though I was glad to see a heatsink on the Southbridge chip, as you don't see that very often, it would have been better had the Northbridge had an active cooling solution. While the CPU socket is surrounded by transistors, they are low enough that installation of the heatsink won't cause any problems. And of course with the contact pins now being on the motherboard, we have the protective plastic cover over the socket. And to the right of the CPU socket we have our four DIMM slots, color coded for the dual channel jazz. You can also see the FDD connector as well as the ATX12v power connection. |
