Icemat Mousing Surface

The construction of the ICEMAT is top notch. It has excellent edges, perfect thickness, not too heavy or bulky. The top etched surface does not feel bumpy or gritty. It's just the right amount of resistance to have a positive sliding feeling. They have put their logo on the underside of the pad so you never have to worry about wearing it off after time. If it gets dirty for some reason just wipe it off like you would our Everglide or Ratpad.

It is glass though. And maybe as a parent I am more "in tune" with these things but it is not tempered glass (http://www.howstuffworks.com/question508.htm). Without trying to turn a mouse pad review into a glass lesson. Basically, when an ICEMAT breaks, it breaks into large sharp shards. Tempered glass does not, it breaks into many tiny pebble sized pieces. While this is not something I would base my decision on while buying a mouse pad, it would definitely influence my purchase of a coffee table. Just something I wanted to put out there for those of you with kids. However most of the people reading this have many other things around their computer that is way more dangerous then a glass mouse pad.  The flip side of the Icemat being glass is that it grips the mouse ball like nobody's business!  Very positive, deliberate, and sure footed feel.

In conclusion, I love the ICEMAT. Its looks alone are enough by me. It's perfect. And not to take anything away from it, but I don't think you can re-invent the wheel here. A mouse pad is always going to be a mouse pad to me. Until I loose my mind and go trackball anyway.  Price is another issue.  The Icemat runs just shy of $29.  Add in shipping from Denmark and you end up with a whopping 43 bucks!  That's a lot of money compared to a $2 standard mouse pad or a $14 Ratpad.  Once suppliers are able to ship the item out domestically the price will move into the range of many more people.

Pros:

-Original construction

-Looks great!

-It's glass baby!

-Looks great!

-nice grip

Cons:

-EXPENSIVE!! @ $43.32, they come from Denmark

-Its not tempered glass
