Actiontec Cable/DSL Router

Conclusion

I've got to tell you that I am pretty impressed. The ability of the router to keep in contact at respectable speeds on a stock antenna was impressive.  I tried it through multiple walls of varying materials and over pretty good distances.  Now I am not saying to throw your 100 Mbps Full Duplex wired network away.  The wireless router is intended for situations where wires are impractical or impossible, or where the "need for speed" is unnecessary.  While the unit is priced higher than say the Linksys or the Netgear wireless routers, they do not seem to be as well rounded a unit.  Just as one example, they do not have a WAP that is Ethernet/Wireless/USB.  I have no problem recommending this product to anyone in need of a wireless solution.  The Actiontec Wireless Cable/DSL Router gets a thumbs up!

Pros

  • Supports multiple ways to connect.

  • Effective in multiple environments

  • Quick and easy setup.

  • Encryption/VPN/NAT

  • Priced a few dollars over the competition but contains more features than most.

Cons

  • A few dollars over the competition.
