by Dean Barker  (4/01/2007)

Introduction

The CoolIT Systems RAM Fan is one of those items that sounds like and looks like exactly what it is.  There have been several small forays into active cooling for memory modules but few large commercial ventures.  CoolIT Systems is a relatively new company that specializes in non traditional cooling devices.  These guys make everything from TEC Units to USB powered beverage cold plates.  So if anyone was going to put out an active memory cooling device it should be no surprise it was CoolIT Systems.

The RAM's Fan

The unit itself is a straight forward piece of crafted aluminum designed to fit down on top of installed DIMMs.  With the base mounted flush, the unit's top mounted 60mm fan is positioned at an angle because of the cut angle to blow air on and across memory and other mainboard components that lay downwind.
