AData MyFlash USB Fingerprint Drive Installation With normal thumb drives installation is as simple as plugging the unit in and getting busy. But with the security of AData's fingerprint sensor, there's a bit more to it. The manual is pretty good about walking you through the steps of getting everything set up. Once you plug the unit in, you'll be prompted to install the new device and once you do, the software will kick in. The security software is located on the drive itself so it's not something you have to install. The first time you use it, is when you swipe your fingerprint and it's saved until you delete it through the control panel. You can choose which finger you're going to sweep for your identification. The software will continue to prompt you to sweep your fingerprint until it has scanned three readable prints for comparison to one another. You can even scan multiple fingers. This can be used to identify several people who will have access to the drive which is pretty nice. And if you have multiple fingers scanned, you can delete them as well as long as you keep at least one. Now this fingerprint technology of course isn't perfect. The identification is dependant on the user getting a good scan when he wants to access the drive and if you can't do that, you can always access the drive through conventional password security. Personally, I prefer using the password simply
because it's faster. After you've set the security, when you plug the drive
into a computer and the security window opens, you can choose either the
fingerprint or password screen. |
