Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive Review The Test: Our test here is pretty straight forward. The entire reason you would buy a thermal adhesive in the first place would be to mount something to a hot surface. We decided the DDR RAM modules on our trusty GeForce2 Pro would do nicely. We have recorded temperatures at idle and while at load under three conditions. One with no heatsinks attached to the video RAM to give us a baseline to compare our results to. Second with Thermal Tape and third with our Arctic Silver Adhesive. Under load is defined here as running the 3Dmark2001 benchmarking program in looping mode for 30 minutes. The test bed we are using is ...
We have recorded our temperatures with the ABIT Hardware monitor probe. The heatsinks we will install are these little black beauties. I have no earthly idea what they were originally designed for but I do know what I'm gonna use em' for! This is how we attached our thermal probe to record temperatures. One thing not to overlook is being careful not to short anything out on your video memory. I would STRONGLY suggest if you are about to use a thermal adhesive be sure to protect your memory chip leads with silicone to keep any excess adhesive from bridging two memory leads. With that being said here are some pics from different stages of our testing.
