BigWater Water Cooling Kit Accessories by Dean Barker (12/22/2004)
Introduction Thermaltake's BigWater Cooling Kit has gotten lots of attention from the hardware community and for good reason. Its recipe for success is a simple blend of excellent performance and being cost effective. Never one to sit still long, Thermaltake has expanded the BigWater Kit by releasing a line of accessories for it. Just a few of these accessories/upgrades are VGA water blocks, flow meters, water temperature indicators, reservoirs as well as UV reactive tubes and coolant. Today we have a couple of these recent releases up on the bench, the Tt Flow Meter and the Tt Refill Water Tank. The Refill Water Tank effectively is a small reservoir that is loaded with style. Measuring roughly 83 x 83 x 60mm this circular shaped reservoir has acrylic windows on two sides. Included with it are two pairs of extra hose connectors, one for 3/8" OD and the other for 1/2" OD. In our original review of the Tt BigWater, we commented on how nice these connectors were in making connecting lines easy and worry free. Also included are two strips of hook and loop fasteners and four screws with matching washers for mounting. Looking closer at the Refill Water Tank you can see that at each corner of the acrylic window are screw holes. This is for folks with fan blowholes located on their side panels who may want to install the tank there. Accepting of course plenty of line is in place so you can remove the door without too much fuss later. The other method of mounting is to use the hook and loop fasteners to mount it to the floor of your case. For access and simplicity, I think this is the best way to go. Turning things around we see two hose fittings. The ones in the picture below are for 3/8" OD line. The kit also includes 1/2" OD fittings which gives the new Tt Water Refill Tank a broader audience to be used with pretty much any water cooling system on the market. Another thing to point out here are the blue anodized aluminum sides of the tank. The convection fins here will arguably help in dropping water temperature but inarguably add some wow points. |
