Kingwin 800w Mach 1 PSU

The cable connection area draws your attention with its aircraft style cable connectors.  Six plug ports are here, two for PCI-E and four 12v connections.  It will be hard to plug cables into the wrong port since Kingwin has made the ports physically different, eliminating possible confusion or any troublesome oversight an end user may have.  The cables themselves plug straight in and are secured in place by a screw fastener.  The ports also are circled by a translucent band that we've seen before from Kingwin.  Under power, this band lights up for ports with a cable connected.

Cable selection is broad and offers plenty of connectors with an ample variety of cable lengths for most any application.  You gotta love those EZ-Grip Molex plugs.

Listed below are all the Mach 1 cables to include their type, number of connections and length.  Something surprising was the 16 inch main ATX power cable.  16 inches worked out fine in two differently configured midtowers and one full tower case we had here in the shop with its ability to reach the mainboard.  While I appreciate any elimination of extra cable length, the 16 inch cable felt awkwardly short, even though it wasn't.

  • (1) Native 20+4 pin ATX - 16"

  • (1) Native 8 pin AUX - 16.5"

  • (1) Native 4 pin AUX - 16.5"

  • (2) Modular SATA rails with three SATA connections each - 29" each

  • (1) Modular Molex line with four standard Molex + one FDD connector - 40" each

  • (1) Modular Molex line with four standard Mole - 35" each

  • (2) Modular PCI-E with one 6 pin and one 6+2 pin power connector - 19.5"

The two PCI-E cables each had two PCI-E connectors.  One of the two on each rail had one 6+2 connector (just like the 20+4 main ATX) that allows functionality with newer video cards wanting the 8 pin PCI-E power plugs.

Installation when without any difficulties as the Kingwin 800 watt Mach 1 is a standard sized unit.  Under power you can see the blue illuminated plug points showing a cable is in and getting juice.  The second shot below is the 140mm fan under power giving off a soft blue glow that was subtle enough to give off a tasteful light without being tacky.
