Lian Li Aquarium Side Panel

Plugging everything in and powering up gave us quite a show.

Conclusion

The Lian Li Aquarium Side Panel is a novelty some will not be able to do without.  Everything fits nice and snug.  You do need to be aware that the water can splash out through the top even with the cap in place if you are careless.  The only complaint we had with the unit was the three position switch on the expansion plate.  The settings in our testing showed it had an on, an off position, and still a still off position.  My first thought was that the cathode was a sound activated number that was broken.  But the aquarium panel wouldn't look right with the light off or flickering.  In looking at the unit and consulting with some e-tailers who deal a lot with cathodes made me think it is not sound activated.  Whatever the third position does, well, it doesn't.  Other than that detail, that doesn't really bother me, the unit was top shelf.  A worthwhile mod for many that is fun to watch and something that will set your box apart.

REVIEW UPDATE (1/27/2003): I have just learned from Lian Li that the third switch position is for the option of having a sound activated cold cathode they plan to offer LATER.  The switch plate's manufacture is something that couldn't be swapped on the fly as easily as changing the light that is included in the kit.

Xoxide will be carrying these units for you guys with Lian Li PC-6X cases looking for something cool and different.

Pros

  • Easy and fast set up.

  • More fun and less care than real fish

  • Looks fantastic.  FANTASTIC!!!

Cons

  • Only fits Lian Li PC-6x model cases.
