Lian Li NC-01 Notebook Cooler by Dean Barker (7/05/2006) Introduction Aside from producing cases, Lian Li makes a variety of components, drive racks, thermal panels, card readers and even desks! So it is with minimal surprise that we received word that they were releasing a notebook cooler. Featuring dual 70 millimeter fans and clean lines, Lian Li expands into yet another niche. We want to extend our thanks to the JCL Company Ltd and Silver PCs for sponsoring this review today on the Lian Li NC-01 Notebook Cooler. Specifications
The Unit Sorry, not much of a bundle here but it is a notebook cooler. The NC-01 Notebook Cooler comes complete with a manual and a 21" long USB extension cable. The purpose of the USB extension cable is to power the twin 70mm cooling fans in the base of the cooler. The NC-01 unit itself is offered in a choice of either silver or black anodize. As you can see, our review unit is black anodize. The cooler is constructed out of a 2mm thick aluminum plate with a tasteful bend on one end to serve as a wrist guard for the end user. The center plate where your laptop would rest, is adorned by two oval holes covered by a black mesh grating to serve as finger guards. Turning the cooler around, we find that the rear edge is adjustable to any one of four preset positions. The highest most notch elevates the rear of the notebook cooler 45mm, while the lowest notch raises it 61mm offering a variety of angles for your laptop to perch in for a more comfortable ergonomic feel. On the third pic below you will see a single USB port next to an on/off button. The purpose of the port is to of course power the dual 70mm cooling fans while the button gives control to either turn the off when needed. |
