NZXT Precise 1000W Modular PSU

What's in the box?

Well, one of the things that came in the box was the power supply of course. In addition to that we have the normal stuff, like a box of cables, a little installation manual and a bag of screws.

We also had a small surprise here. NZXT also included a couple of standard zip cable ties and some nice cloth type cable ties with Velcro. This was an unexpected, but very welcome surprise (especially since I'm not the neatest cable management guy around). There are also four SATA to Molex connections in case you're need more than four Molex connectors.

There are more cables in that box than you can shake a stick at. While we're talking about cables, let's take a quick look at just what kind and how many connections this bad boy has!!

  • 12V 4-pin

  • 12V 8-pin

  • (4) PCI-Express 6-pin

  • (2) FDD

  • (6) 4-pin Molex

  • (12) SATA

  • (4) SATA to Molex adapters

The best part about this power supply is it's size. As you can see, it's no larger than the average ATX power supply which makes installing it nice it easy.

While it is a modular unit, there are four lines that are not. The 20(+4) pin ATX power, the 4-pin and 8-pin 12V line and one of the lines with three of the Molex connections and FDD.

On the side of the power supply is the label with all the details and power ratings of the unit.

At the front of the unit are the modular connections. I'd really like to shake the hand of the person who first thought of this idea, I love it.

Turning it around we get a look at the rear of the unit. There is a small switch here that allows you to switch from having the six 12V rails split, or you can combine them.

The one thing that is missing that I would have liked to see is a motherboard connection lead to monitor the fan speed.
