Thermaltake Purepower Butterfly 480w PSU

What's in the box?

For starters, I can safely say the Butterfly PSU box is the largest box I've seen a power supply come in.  Once I opened it up, I found a few bonuses I wasn't expecting.  Thermaltake has been real big into rheostats of late.  Included with the Butterfly PSU was their newer two channel silver rheo and an 80mm squirrel cage type fan.

The rheobus has two larger knobs designed for control of the power supply fan (if you choose to run its fan manually) and the included squirrel cage fan.  The squirrel cage can be run off the rheo or by installing a jumper over the pins that connect to the rheostat, it can be set to run full speed.  Full speed for this fan is 4500 RPM which moves 27 CFM while making 41dBA.

The Butterfly

Let's get more into the meat and potatoes.  Our Butterfly PSU came in silver with a black "X" shaped plate that covers up a side window.  The fans within the unit are the expected Thermaltake orange which I think always looks cool.

A close up view of the side of the unit shows that the "X" is removed by loosening four screws, one in each corner of the plate.  With this done you can see the small window with some white markings and the Xaser logo in the center.
