Thermaltake Perfect Light Series

EL Fireball for 5.25" Bay

The EL 5.25" Bay Fireball turns out to be the most straight forward of all the Tt "Perfect Light" line.  The EL appliqué is applied to a standard 5.25" bay cover made of aluminum.  The power line that connects to the throw switch unit measures the same 24" as the other products listed here.  This not only gives you good reach but enough line so you can tuck your wires in out of the way.

If you use a case equipped with a drive bay door you may want to pass on this mod.  Otherwise you won't be able to see it mounted in your 5.25" bay.  Exposed bay cases are a different story fortunately.

Fireball Fan / Fan Grill

Our last items we have here in the Tt "Perfect Lighting" line are fan products.  One is a EL fan grill and the other is a quad-LED  80mm fan with the EL fan grill attached.  The motion of the fan grill lighting under power is a pretty smooth departure from the three or four position Fireball products we've thus far looked at.  The light motion in more like a strobe than anything else.  Below are pics of the fans in their retail packaging as well as both installed in our test box.

If you have QuickTime or downloaded it off the link, you can click here for a short 10 second movie of these in action.  To view the file, right click the link and select 'save target as'; once you finish you can view it.  Please forgive the image quality of the movie because the lighting for capturing this was exceedingly difficult.

Conclusion

Thermaltake has broadened the horizons of available case mods/lighting with their "Perfect Lighting" line up.  The Fireball theme is reasonably catchy and I halfway expect that we may see other designs of these items (something other than flames) down the road.  Mind you that is only speculation on my part.  In each of the six products we looked at instruction and overall quality of the products was very good.  If you are looking for something a little different, these EL units may be right up your ally.  At the time of this writing, pricing and availability is unknown but I expect them to range in price from $15 - $25 depending on what item you're looking at.
